Notices & Reminders

Message from the Interim CEO, Bronwyn Joy Heard

Hello and thank you for your very warm welcome to Homewood Care. I am enjoying getting to know many of you and it’s a privilege to work with an expert team – I have worked with many in recent years, and this service team is exceptional.

I expect to be here for about 3 months. You might like to know a bit about me. My husband and I have 5 children (we’re a blended family) and 10 grandchildren with number 11 due in the middle of May. We live at the Central Coast and enjoy great food and wine. My husband and I both love cooking and I love to travel.

My focus at work is that we support residents to live their best life and that we genuinely look after our team of hard workers.

Do pop by and say “Hello”.

General Manager, Tom Pembroke's shoutout

I’m very excited to be taking on this new role. Over the past five years, I’ve truly loved working at Homewood — it’s a special place with an incredible community. My goal has always been to ensure our residents, staff, and families feel safe, supported, happy, and able to enjoy themselves every day.

I’m passionate about creating a home where everyone feels engaged, with a variety of activities that cater to different interests and personalities. I’ll continue working to keep Homewood a standout facility that residents are proud to call home.

I also want all residents, staff, and families to know they can always contact me — my door is open, and I’m here to help however I can.

There are some exciting things to look forward to as well. We’ve recently upgraded the Homewood Library area with new furniture, fresh carpet, and a new TV — creating a warm, welcoming space for residents to enjoy. The Gardens furniture upgrade is now underway and will continue rolling out over the next month. We’re also refreshing the outdoor garden areas across both Homewood and The Gardens to make them even more beautiful and enjoyable for everyone.

Homewood holds a special place in my heart — it was founded by my grandfather in 1970, and I’m incredibly proud to carry on his legacy.

Photo of the month

This Beautiful moment captures four generations of love at Homewood. Our cherished eldest resident Mary Zachariadis (102 years young) is pictured here with the newest member of her family; her great granddaughter Penelope.

Mary is surrounded by the warmth of her children Kathy and George as well as George’s daughter also named Mary, who is proudly holding baby Penelope. This is a precious reminder of the joy, strength and connection that family brings across generations. Sadly, Mary’s eldest daughter Elizabeth is missing from this photo. However, Mary is incredibly fortunate to have all three of her children visit her weekly. At 102, Mary still enjoys long walks around the facility each day and has a fantastic appetite. When asked about the secret to her mother’s longevity, Elizabeth shared, “Mum had a great life and was well looked after by her husband”—proving there might just be some truth to the old saying, happy wife, happy life.

Staffs Award

Over the past month, we’ve proudly celebrated some of the incredible team members who make Homewood the special place it is. 💛

We began by recognising Sergy (AIN), Emily and Olivia (Team Leaders), and Makereta (Laundry Head), each marking an impressive 15 years of service. Their dedication, consistency, and care have had a lasting impact on both their teams and our residents.

We then celebrated Candy and Finau, two of our wonderful AINs, who have each given 20 years of compassionate service. Their loyalty and commitment to resident care truly exemplify the heart of aged care.

And finally, we honoured a remarkable milestone — 25 years or more of service — achieved by Kim, Sharmila, and Maria, three exceptional women whose care and presence have become woven into the very fabric of Homewood. Their contribution goes beyond duty; it’s legacy. To all of these team members: thank you for your years of compassion, consistency, and care. Your dedication continues to shape Homewood into a place that feels like home.
