About Homewood Care
Family-owned for over 50 years, with a proud and rich history of caring for the elderly.
Being a family-owned company, it’s in our DNA to build strong connections and treat everyone like family. We combine down-to-earth friendliness and warmth with exemplary residential aged care in two beautifully appointed homes (located on one site).
We aim to create the sense of easy-going comfort and security you’d find in a family home. We encourage strong family ties. Our friendly and professional team creates a family bond with all residents in our care.
We strive to provide the best care, food and lifestyle activities to ensure our residents are happy, safe and comfortable.
We offer family hospitality and warmth and show respect and consideration for who you are. We acknowledge and celebrate different backgrounds and cultures.
We value our team (link to Our People page), which works like a close-knit family to support each other to deliver their best.
Our individualised approach to care, catering and lifestyle is delivered in warm, open and family-oriented home. We are a fully accredited, COVID-free aged care service offering high care, delicious chef-prepared food cooked freshly onsite and enjoyable lifestyle programs 7 days a week.
Now, their son and nephew, Tom Pembroke, is the third generation of the family to be involved in the family business. He works onsite to welcome new residents, families, visitors and staff to Homewood, and assist with enquiries about the home.
Tom was recently inducted into the long-distance swimming Hall of Fame, being the youngest person to have ever completed the 7 Channel Swim- a wonderful achievement that reflects the spirit and passion of the Pembroke family.
We are proud to say at Homewood Care, we’re family!
Our team consists of highly skilled aged care operators

Dr Andrew Pembroke

Dr Andrew Pembroke has been a cornerstone of Homewood Care since 1981, when the sudden passing of his father—who co-founded the facility with Roger Anthony. Alongside his brothers Damien and Johnathan, Andrew became a co-owner of Homewood, where he continues to serve as a board member, helping guide the organisation’s strategic and clinical direction.
While maintaining a full-time medical career, Andrew has played a significant role in shaping Homewood’s long-term vision. He and his young family lived onsite during the early years, and his involvement has spanned major development projects including the creation of Homewood Gardens and the $12 million redevelopment of the original Homewood facility.
A practicing doctor for nearly 40 years, Andrew earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of New South Wales in 1986 and completed his Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 1995. He currently works as a Specialist Anaesthetist at The Mater, Hunters Hill, and Hurstville Private Hospitals, having also served over two decades in the public system, including at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
“Homewood is a place where our older generation can truly enjoy their life - feeling respected, connected and at home, every single day. I want our elderly to eat well, drink, laugh, and live. My vision is for Homewood to feel more like Club Med than a traditional aged care facility—changing the stigma of aged care and redefining what ageing can look like.”
